Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 55-year-old uncle has no other medical issues but has recently been diagnosed with liver disease and jaundice. The doctors suspect hepatitis as the cause. Given his specific situation, I am interested in understanding the medications commonly prescribed for managing liver diseases and jaundice. Could you provide insights into the types of medicines recommended for someone of his age and health status? Are there any precautions we should consider?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for your consultation with icliniq.com

Hepatitis or jaundice at this age must be evaluated for the underlying cause. Hepatitis (is simply an inflammation of the liver) and jaundice (is only a symptom, not a disease). At his age, with hepatitis B, and hepatitis C, an ultrasound of the liver should be checked to establish the underlying cause. Treatment of hepatitis is directly towards the underlying cause. Hepatitis B and C are viral causes, while the rest can occur due to alcohol intake, certain medicines (drug-related liver injury), etc. Share his reports, including liver function tests, other blood reports, and ultrasound abdomen reports, so that I can guide you better regarding his condition.

I hope this helps. Thank you.
