Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had a scary incident last night. I woke up from sleep and found my left leg to be completely dead. I tried to get up to pee, but my left leg collapsed completely, and I fell. When I tried to get up again, the same happened. Within a minute, all the symptoms were reversed, and everything came back normal.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Thank you for the query.
1) Was it just weakness or did you have any sensory loss?
2) Was the left side of the face involved?
3) Do you have backpain?
4) Is this the first time?
For tumors of the spine and multiple sclerosis, the classic history would be progressive weakness. And it is unlikely to disappear in minutes. But strokes and transient ischemic attacks can present in minutes and resolve.
Take care.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thanks for the reply.
I do not think it is a stroke as I had the same scenario ten months ago. And I did a brain CT to rule out the cause, but everything was normal in my CT reports. It was only weakness like when your leg gives out after sitting on the toilet for hours. And it literally resolved within less than a minute. I am just scared about having a spine tumor or ALS.
Thanks.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Did it happen on the same leg previously? As this is the second time, I suggest you do an MRI of the lower thoracic and lumbar spine so that we can rule out the structural etiology in the spine.
Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
