Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 30-year-old male. I have a low libido. Can you explain the potential physical and psychological causes of a decreased or increased libido? When should I consider seeking medical or professional help for concerns related to libido, and what are the available treatments or interventions? Are there lifestyle and dietary factors that can impact libido, and are there recommended strategies for improving one's sex drive?

Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Low libido has reasons:

  1. Infections can be due to urine infection (urine and ultrasound of the pelvis) to diagnose the cause.
  2. Diabetes and hypertension.
  3. Hormonal disturbances, low testosterone, low levels of thyroid, and high levels of prolactin.
  4. Obesity.
  5. High cholesterol.
  6. Chronic disease or on any regular medication.
  7. Anxiety can also cause libido issues.
  8. Need to do USG (ultrasonography) pelvis to rule out pelvis infection, thyroid check-up, free T3 (triiodothyronine), T4 (thyroxine), TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), lipid profile to know cholesterol level, blood pressure, and RBS (random blood sugar).
  9. For a temporary solution, I suggest you take a tablet of Tadalafil 5 mg twice a day and a tablet of Dapoxetine 30 mg half an hour before sex for 30 days.

I hope this information will help you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thanks.
