Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I feel that I have low sperm volume. We are trying for baby over the last four months. We used to have sex daily but only once as I have low volume of sperm. Sometime sperms come after intercourse. My wife has a regular 30 days of cycle (May 4, June 4, July 7, August 6 and September 4). For past nine years, I am using Cetirizine daily for allergic rhinitis with doctor consultation.

When I used to have sex with three days gap I feel more sperm is coming out. Other than low sperm volume, we are not able to track the ovulation day too. Sometimes after intercourse I used to press and ejaculate the rest of sperms. Please suggest us to get a baby. Three years I worked in a petrochemical company. Now I resigned my job and planning for baby. Please help us.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read and understood your problem.

  • I would like to suggest you to get semen analysis done after two days abstaining from sex. If this test is normal then your wife will need tests, but you can wait few months for that.
  • You can go for alternate day sex which is enough for pregnancy. But if desire is more you can have daily sex too.
  • Do not depend on wife's ovulation day, have sex all through the month except period time. Do not make sex a calendar event, enjoy naturally.
  • Meanwhile keep away from heat, chemical and smoking zones. Avoid smoking and alcohol. Avoid laptop on lap. Wear loose undergarments and keep your testes cooled by pressing them with wet towel for 5-10 minutes daily. Also reduce weight 4-5 kg.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am following your instructions. As per your suggestion my semen analysis has been attached with this message. After two days of abstinence I maximum tried to collect 1 ml only may be because I masturbated. Please advice further. Thank you.

Hi

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

  • Your semen report is normal (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Volume may be low due to incomplete ejaculation at laboratory.
  • Eat more quantity of fruits, nuts and tomatoes. You do not need to take any medication.
