Do lymph node pain, fatigue, and night sweats indicate an HIV infection?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had a hand job three months ago, from a massage girl, after two days I started having burns during urine and fatigue, and night sweats and I took antibiotics for 45 days. I did have a test after 50 days after the incident of HIV rapid fourth-generation antigen or antibodies (negative). I did have a second test HIV combo from the vein at the lab after 52 days after the incident (negative). I started having lymph node pain (neck, armpits, and all my body), fatigue, joint pain, and itching. I had a third test after 60 days after the incident of HIV rapid fourth-generation antigen or antibodies test (negative). I had a fourth test after 67 days after the incident HIV combo from the vein at the lab (negative). I had a fifth test HIV-1 quantitative by real-time CPR 68 days after incident (negative). Now I still have painful lymph nodes and fatigue. Am I still at risk of HIV? Are there any further tests that I need to take?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your test results are quite assuring for HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). Symptoms could be due to various reasons. Get a CBC (complete blood count), urine routine and culture sensitivity test, vitamin D3 levels, FBS (fasting blood sugar), and an FNA (fine needle aspiration) lymph node. If that was the only exposure and no further exposure, a negative HIV test is quite assuring in that case.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Is it enough to have all these tests for HIV? Is PCR conclusive at this time after 68 days? There is no further exposure at all.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Yes, if it was this exposure alone and no other contact.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My PCR test was HIV-1 quantitative by real-time PCR. Do I have to go for PCR HIV-2? All my lymph nodes are in pain and fatigue. Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

No, you do not have to go for PCR HIV-2 test.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
