Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 78-year-old father recently underwent an MRI, and the results indicate prominent diffuse cerebral atrophy along with mild chronic ischemic changes involving the periventricular white matter bilaterally. He had a massive heart attack 15 years ago, and since then, he has been on blood thinners. Currently, he is taking Baby Aspirin and Lisinopril. What exactly does the result of his MRI states?

Please clarify.

Thank you.

Hello,Welcome to icliniq.com,

Results of clinical reports, such as an MRI, need to be interpreted in the context of the patient's specific clinical symptoms. If your father does not exhibit any clinical symptoms despite the abnormal MRI findings, the results might be considered age-appropriate, and no intervention may be necessary. However, if your father is experiencing any difficulties or symptoms, the MRI report can provide valuable information ranging from depression to dementia, and further evaluation and management can be considered accordingly.

To provide a more accurate interpretation of the MRI report, it would be helpful if you could share any relevant clinical symptoms your father may be experiencing.

I hope this helps you. Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions. Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
