Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am feeling deeply depressed. I have insomnia, weight loss, and deep feelings of morbidity. I was previously treated for the same condition with Stalopam. I need help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query, and I can understand your concern.

I suggest you do a self-rating test of depression like Zung's Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS). You can easily find it online, and if it is indicative of moderate to severe depression, consult a psychiatrist. Medications will be required. The following measures may help:

  1. Practice relaxation techniques like breath relaxation exercises daily.

  2. Follow a routine and exercise regularly.

  3. Consume a balanced diet.

  4. Share your feelings with family or close friends.

  5. Practice steps of sleep hygiene. For example, sleeping and waking up at the regular time, avoiding caffeinated drinks at least eight hours before sleep, and avoiding using television, mobile, or laptop half an hour before sleep.

Remember, every problem has a solution, you just need to try solving it, and help is just a step away. Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Investigations to be done

I would suggest you undergo TFT (thyroid function test) and psychological testing.

Probable diagnosis

The probable cause for your condition is MDD (major depressive disorder).

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
