What should someone do to protect themselves from getting infected with malaria?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Malaria is spreading throughout my neighborhood, and I am worried if I will contract it too. Also, I have had some mosquito bites, but there are no symptoms. So, is there any vaccine to prevent it? How can I protect myself from it? What step should I take? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. However, I would suggest you take the tablet Chloroquine 200 mg once weekly for prevention, and also, use mosquito repellents and net.

Thank you.
