Patient's Query

Hello,

I have had the hair fall problem for nine months, but not like this. I am losing my hair fast now. I had this complaint for the last one and a half years, but I have quickly lost my hair the previous month. I went to take some tests, but I did not think that dermatologist was an actual doctor; I felt like he did not know anything. I will attach the pictures of the test I took for hair loss. But I think that test was not accurate, so I need to know what test should I do to know the real cause of my hair loss. I need to know the root cause of my hair loss. Kindly tell me what exact laboratory tests I must do to understand why my hair is falling this quickly. In the last month, my sides have been almost empty. Unfortunately, I can not find a good specialized dermatologist. I hope this site helps. My hair used to be very thick and heavy with good density. I want that hair back. I think it is a medical problem as my father lost his hair only at the age of 60, but I am only 28. Also, I am not using any medication now, just oiling. Please help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am assuming you have male pattern hair fall (a photograph would have been nice to confirm). You should check your vitamin D, B 12, and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels. Rest are fine. If anything is abnormal, then it should be corrected. Now treatment wise, I suggest the most important is to apply Minoxidil 5 % and Finasteride 0.1 % topical solution, 1 mL twice a day. It would be best to continue that for a long time, as the results will start showing only after the third month.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

By the way, my skin is also peeling from my head. I mean, when I scratch my head, the skin comes off. I have used Accutane (Isotretinoin) 20 mg tablets thrice daily for five months to treat acne. But, I stopped using it over the past three months. My previous hormone test was done before using Accutane. Do you think Accutane influences hormones? Should I recheck my hormonal balance?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You need not do a hormonal check-up again. Accutane (Isotretinoin) does not mess with your hormones. Instead, it causes dryness and flaking. It can also cause hair fall in some people. If you have too many flakes coming, I suggest you use a Ketoconazole and Salicylic acid shampoo twice a week to clear it.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
