Patient's Query

Hi,

I am taking tablets Prodep 60mg, Modalert 200mg, Oleanz 5mg. I know you would not recommend me Modalert 200mg, but I have tried it as I am much concerned about concentration and cognitive enhancement. By god's grace now Modalert 200mg suits me and there are no side effects as such. Moreover, I feel improvement in my doubts and nonsense thoughts.

There are two major problems for me:

  • Once in a week there is an attack of thoughts that life is very bad. Thoughts like suicide come to my mind. By god's grace I have not tried suicide. These thoughts leave my mind after two days.
  • I am taking Modalert 200mg since 10 days, but I feel no improvement in cognitive enhancement and concentration. There is weakness in my hands since 5 days. Is this symptom of any medicine which I am taking or is there any other reason for this?

Please give your valuable suggestion regarding when will Modalert 200mg give me improvement in concentration and cognitive enhancement.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

  • I am happy to know that you are improving in some domains and started considering your health as a priority.
  • At the same time I congratulate you that you are able to overcome all the nonsense ideas which sometime creep into your brain.
  • When I recommended Modalert 200mg about two months back there were problems due to side effects.
  • Fortunately you are tolerating the same medication which is a good sign of recovery.
  • Like all psychiatric medications, Modalert 200mg takes some time to act and you need to wait for at least two to four weeks.
  • If you have already completed two weeks or more of Modalert, it is advisable to stop it if there is no positive effect in alertness and concentration.
  • In case there is some improvement, continue taking it as usual.
  • Please note that you need to take Modalert early in the morning and never after 11 AM.
  • There is another new drug from the similar class and it may be useful in case there is failure with Modalert.
  • We will plan for due drug after considering the benefit of Modalert in the next consultation. The drug is known as Armodafinil and available in the brand name Armod.
  • The weakness symptoms which you have mentioned is not related to any of these medications.
  • To rule out anemia, you can check your hemoglobin level from a nearby laboratory.
  • There is also a possibility that there was some sleep problem during these days that resulted in weakness.
  • At this moment you just need to take proper rest and diet.
  • The current weekly thoughts of self harm is going to reduce in near future.
  • Try to follow what I instructed you during our video consultation few weeks back.
  • I hope you remember the imaginary "Stop Technique".
  • Having said this, continue taking Prodep and Oleanz at same dosage.
  • Regarding Modalert follow instructions as described above.
  • Continue it with same dosage before 10 Am in the morning if there is even slight improvement.
