Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 35 years old. I noticed a black dot on the foreskin of the penis and it looks like just a change of color and there is no flakiness or bloat over it. It is less than 1 mm in size. I started to have this last month as I decided to use condoms when my wife stopped taking birth control pill. After that, I had itchiness and discomfort after sex. It can be due to dryness and after four to five days, my penis came back to normal without itchiness or discomfort. But then I noticed a black spot on the foreskin today. I have itchiness after sex due to dryness and this happened to me three times now and I have never had a black spot on my penis like this time. I am concerned about melanoma. Please suggest.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It does not appear to be due to melanoma (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It can be due to fungal infection or irritation or allergy. Avoid too much irritation or friction. Keep the area well ventilated. Wear loose innerwear. You should clean the area with warm water twice daily. Do not use harsh soaps. If possible avoid condoms and see whether it is due to it. Use topical antifungal cream like Candid (Clotrimazole 1 %) for now. Treat your partner for fungal infections or white discharge if she has it. Consult your doctor for examination and management if it does not subside.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

My partner does not have itchiness or discomfort or fungal infections. It happens only for me. I am concerned about it whether it is melanoma.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Do not worry about melanoma. All black colored lesions are not melanoma. There are many causes for these lesions such as simple infections or allergies or irritation. So do not worry about it. Follow it with your doctor if it does not subside. They will evaluate it further if needed.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
