Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I took the Depo-Provera injection for ten years, but I have not received it for the past five years. I have been taking the medications for the past three years but do not get my periods regularly. What should I do to have a regular menstrual cycle? I have a genetic blood clot disorder named factor five Leiden.
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The causes of delayed periods are stress, anemia, or thyroid dysfunction. So I suggest you get a complete blood count and a thyroid profile done. You should also get an abdominal ultrasound to rule out PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease), in which multiple cysts form in one or both ovaries. Depo-Provera (Medroxyprogesterone acetate) injection can also delay your periods for up to one year.
I hope this helps.
