Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Initially, I have not been using any contraceptives for the last five years, and I have never conceived before. My menstrual cycles have been irregular for as long as I can recall. There are instances where I skip one to three months, and sometimes up to five months, while other times, they occur normally for three to four months. Additionally, some months I experience extended periods lasting from one to 13 days. Although I have not had much pain over the years, in the past three months specifically, I have been experiencing excruciating pain to the extent that it impairs my ability to walk properly. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

I am so sorry to hear the pain you have experienced. You seem to be dealing with irregular periods and severe pain that affects your daily life. I can provide some general information that might be helpful.

Irregular periods can have a variety of causes, including hormonal imbalances, stress, weight fluctuations, medications, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid disorders, etc. Your menstrual cycle is prolonged and the duration of bleeding can vary from person to person. But severe pain during your period can be a sign of endometriosis or uterine fibroids.

At this point, keeping a diary of your menstrual cycle and monitoring your symptoms may be helpful. Note the days and intensity of the pain, the duration and frequency of your menstrual cycle, and other relevant details. This information can help your gynecologist make a diagnosis for your condition.

As explained above, you can get an abdomen ultrasound to rule out the cause of pain. Take care of yourself.

I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you have any further queries.

Thank you.
