Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been trying for a pregnancy for five years and have had two miscarriages in the sixth week of pregnancy. I went for a follicular study scan, and the doctor prescribed me a Meprate tablet for 16 days of my cycle and gave me 10 tablets per day. Is it safe to have the tablet? On the internet, it has been mentioned for irregular periods but I am regularly ovulating and have regular periods. If I consume that tablet, will it affect my periods? Will It help to get pregnant? Kindly suggest about this tablet clearly.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your query and I understand your concern. I hope you have done all the basic investigations including the husband's semen analysis before going towards any treatment. The progesterone tablets in the second half of the menstrual cycle are prescribed to maintain the pregnancy if it has occurred. Progesterone is a hormone that holds the pregnancy, as you have a history of abortion that is why the doctor must have prescribed you Meprate (Medroxyprogesterone Acetate) as a precaution. Please attach all the investigation reports you have done so I can suggest you properly.

Thank you.
