Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
When I wake up every morning, I feel the taste of blood in my mouth. Please suggest.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Please check your mouth by looking into the mirror while brushing your teeth to know any bleeding sites in your mouth and throat. Mild bleeding might occur if you have gum disease due to infection or a vitamin deficiency. Please consult a dentist to get clinically evaluated. Please change and use a soft toothbrush.
A sinus infection also causes symptoms, including the taste of blood in the mouth every morning. It will help to know if you are having any sinus infections that might be causing it.
If you are a smoker and have a chronic cough, then causes in the lungs, including bronchitis, will have to be included. Please get examined by an ENT specialist, and if required, consult a dentist.
Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
I hope this helps.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for the reply,
Yes, I am a smoker. Is there any serious issue in my lungs?
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Since you have a strong history of smoking, therefore it is essential to get basic tests like a chest X-ray and clinical examination done immediately. If required then a detailed investigation like CT (computed tomography) scan might be required.
Please consult an ENT specialist and also an internal medicine doctor to know if there is any cause in the lungs which might be causing the problem. It will help to reduce smoking if you are unable to quit.
I hope this helps.
