Hello doctor,
I was playing basketball, and someone landed on my foot while jumping. It felt as if my first metatarsal dislocated from the cuneiform. I have pain and instability in the dorsal midfoot area after trauma. The pain is mostly at the first metatarsal and midfoot joint. My X-ray showed no dislocations or breaks on the day of the injury. I could walk with the help of a medical shoe two weeks later, but I had to turn my foot to avoid pressure on the joint. I am taking the tablet Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen.

I understand that there was an injury to your foot two weeks back. Unfortunately, I could not open the attached images. Please tell me more about the dislocation you have mentioned. Is the dislocation visible on X-rays? Please send the images of your foot and mark the exact site of pain on them.

Hi doctor,
It felt like the joint had dislocated. The arch of my foot felt like it just went flat, specifically in the area mentioned. The X-rays were taken two hours after the accident and showed everything in line. There were no fractures. I will attach the images.

Your history points towards ligaments injury. The ligaments and bones maintain our arch. The arch is affected if there is an injury to these supporting structures. From the attached images (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), there is no fracture of the bones. So there is a possibility of a ligament injury. Did the pain reduce or increase in the past two months?

Hi doctor,
The pain has reduced significantly over the past two weeks. At first, I could not put weight on it at all. It slightly hurts and feels unstable. The urgent care doctor gave me a stiff medical shoe, and I can now walk in it with almost no pain. The pain has almost entirely been on the top of the foot and the inside of the foot.
