Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been dealing with migraines for a few years now, and my doctor prescribed Nurtec ODT for me. I am a bit concerned about its safety and potential side effects. I do not have any other medical conditions. Can you provide information about how safe it is to take Nurtec for my migraines? Additionally, what are the most common or concerning side effects that I should be aware of while using this medication?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query.

I understand your concern about that medication, however, that medication is one of the drugs with the lowest side effects.

Nurtec ODT is the brand name of Rimegepant. According to the available data and post-marketing surveys, the rate of adverse effects is around 2 percent. And the most reported side effect is nausea. Of note, the safety of more than 18 doses per month is not established.

Please note that it is an ODT (orally disintegrating) drug. So pay attention to the instructions on how to take it.

So to recap, if you do not have any concomitant medical issues, it would be beneficial for you to start taking the medication according to your physician's prescription. It is safe.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.
