Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have already used Minoxidil 5 % for the last four months. The results were good, but these Minoxidil solutions are with alcohol, which is very drying. So I want to try Minoxidil without alcohol. Kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Minoxidil, as well as all skin and hair care products, do have some amount of alcohol in them as it is the medium of absorption of the main ingredients into the skin and scalp, but it may vary in the ratio depending on the product. However, as you mentioned, products with a large percentage of alcohol may result in dryness of the skin and may cause discomfort. Minichek F (Minoxidil and Finasteride) 5 % solution, however, is great as it contains the least amount of alcohol, and to help further with the dryness, their base medium is oil, due to which there would not be any flakes, dryness or discomfort. The brand may be available in medical stores or may be easily availed online. Please consult a specialist and take the medication with their consent.
