What causes the jaw to shift to the side while opening wide?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have not really thought about this until now. I notice that my jaw gets shifted to the side while opening my mouth wide and during closing. I want to know whether my jaw is misaligned or dislocated. I do not have pain and swelling. I did not have any accidents recently. I have undergone surgery seven years back on my face due to a blood clot. Can I have a possibility to fix this issue?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I suggest you do some exercise for jaw alignment and it makes your face look beautiful. You can do neck curls, collarbone backups, tongue twisters, vowel sounds, and chin-ups. Doing facial exercises helps in maintaining neck and facial muscles. It keeps the jawline sharper, but they do not fix the issue. To look and feel healthy, you need to have good eating habits and do exercise regularly. These exercises will really help you.

If there is no improvement in 15 days, have a follow-up to learn other improved methods. Try to check whether your jaw looks misaligned or you feel like it.

I hope that you get your answer.

Please let me know if you need any help.

Thank you.
