Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My wife took Primolut N when we were about to get married (for 17 days) and then on the 15th, 16th and the 17th day we had unprotected intercourse. In order to avoid pregnancy, she stopped her Primolut N dosage on the 17th day and tool an I-pill. In spite of doing so, she has not got her periods. Can she be pregnant?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Although history is not complete, she got an overdose of hormones which might affect withdrawal bleed as well as periods. Stress, overwork, illness, medications, hormonal imbalance all can delay periods. Get a serum beta hCG test to check pregnancy. If no pregnancy, then wait for weeks at least before menstrual induction (tablet Primolut N 10 mg twice daily for five days and wait for bleeding for 1 to 2 weeks). Next periods could be irregular after withdrawal bleed but gradually periods will get back to normal as soon as the body gets rid of externally induced hormones (I-pill, Primolut N).

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
