Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Does the mole on my shoulder look concerning? I have had it since childhood. It is flat and has not grown in size. What to do?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Based on the information you provided, the mole on your shoulder does not seem concerning. Moles that have been present since childhood and have not changed in size, shape, or color are generally considered benign (non-cancerous).

However, it is essential to have any new or changing moles evaluated by a healthcare provider, as some malignant (cancerous) moles may also appear suddenly or grow slowly over time. If you notice any changes in the mole, such as asymmetry, irregular borders, color variation, or a change in size or elevation, you should schedule an appointment with a dermatologist for further evaluation.

In the meantime, it is recommended to perform regular self-examinations of your skin to monitor any new or existing moles. If you have concerns about your skin health or anxiety related to skin conditions, you may also consider speaking with a mental health professional to help manage your symptoms.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.
