Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Two months ago, a tingling sensation started in my hands and feet more on the left side. The tingling has recently subsided, but I now have some minor twitching in my left eye and on both thighs. I have tinnitus and floaters in my eyes, which developed recently. I also have muscle weakness; I wake up and feel fine, then after doing a very minor activity, I feel weak and very tired, and when I rest, I feel fine most of the time. I had blood tests done which were fine, and then a brain and spine MRI, which was normal. Two years ago, I had similar tingling but no weakness. Currently, I am taking Omeprazole and Yasmin.
I believe this is a motor neuron disease as MRI was normal. However, I have been waiting for months to see a neurologist in person, and I need advise.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Muscle twitchings may happen in motor neuron disease. But motor neuron disease is a rare disorder. Other common causes of muscle twitching include anxiety, caffeine, nicotine, thyroid dysfunction, and diabetes. Also, twitching in isolation is generally benign unless it is associated with muscle loss. Please meet a neurologist in person and get yourself properly examined.
Take care.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Well, I am on a waiting list to see one. I will just keep myself convinced it is not motor neuron disease for now.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Please get yourself physically examined, followed by an appropriate investigation like a nerve conduction velocity (NCV) test and electromyography (EMG) to confirm or rule out motor neuron disease.
Take care.
