Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have nasal polyps and have previously had these removed. After a bad cold, the polyp in my left nostril has come down and is completely blocking that nostril. No air can enter or exit. I need to see my doctor, but I am due to fly for work next week and am concerned about the pressure on the plane. Would it be advisable not to travel by plane? I have been asthmatic with a history of allergy or hay fever. This is already impacting my left ear. Currently, I am taking Ventolin Symbicort.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The pressure difference of the airplane can harm your left ear, which is already closed by the left nasal polyps. It will be better to postpone the airplane travel till dealing with the nasal polyps. These are allergic polyps that mostly need to be surgically removed again. I advise you to consult with a specialist and take a Cortisone injection as Diprofos (Betamethasone sodium phosphate and Betamethasone dipropionate) ampule. It is a single injection dose every 6 to 7 months till the polyp disappears.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you. It is extremely uncomfortable just now. Is it common to have polyps this large?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
It is not common, but it happens. In my career life, I saw one case like yours with large polyps in both nostrils.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
