Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 43-year-old male. My recent ultrasound found two solid lumps in the left thyroid, 0.2x0.3 cm and 03.x0.4 cm, with indistinct borders, with little else information, so I do not know what to do. I will attach the ultrasound images afterward.

Here are my questions:

1. Are the lumps big enough to get sliced to determine if they are benign or not?

2. If I am unable to do (1), then I need to wait for the lumps to get big enough. What is the risk involved if I wait and how can I avoid it? Is there any medication I can take while waiting?

3. From the images, can you estimate the nature of the lumps, benign or not?

4. What is your overall recommendation for me to do next?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I read your query and understand your concern. I just read your query and from the images, you have attached (attachment removed to protect patient’s identity) it does appear that you have thyroid goiter but it looks not so clear so as to differentiate between benign or malignant. I would not suggest that you panic because this is just on the basis of ultrasound which is not definitive. I advise you to do FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) of the thyroid. Then you must visit an endocrine surgeon for further management. Hope you find my advice helpful. Feel free to get back with more queries.

Thank you.
