Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My sister has OCD. Last year she stopped eating and drinking water. For ten days, she has not eaten anything. We took her to the hospital. The doctor gave her medicine too. For 25 days, she was in the hospital, then she was fine. Medicines like the tablet Flunil 20 mg per day was continued. She had taken medicines for two months and then refused to take them. She is saying she does not have OCD, but she has two souls inside her body. After she stops taking medicine, she takes more time in the toilet and for baths. Doing so much repetitive things. And for the past month, she has got angry with me (I am her brother) because I took her to the hospital last year, and she is blaming me every day at least once, shouting at my family and me. Now I am also afraid of her. I am very much depressed. Please suggest what to do. It will be a great help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) is a relapsing-remitting illness; it needs constant doctor follow-up, and failing to do so may worsen the condition. Your sister not only has OCD, but she also seems to have low insight into her illness. In this condition, you must take her to a doctor. You can visit her previous psychiatrist, take her old prescription, and discuss her condition. Her condition will worsen without treatment. She might get more aggressive with time. Probably she is developing a kind of paranoia for family members also. All issues need immediate intervention. I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
