Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had taken an I-pill a week before my periods, and now I have taken another one three to four days after the period ended. My discharge is less and stretchy, unlike the normal discharge. Is it normal?

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I fully understand your concern and will surely help you. I request you to please share the details of your menstrual cycle like date, flow, any history of irregular periods, etc. With the additional information, I will be able to help you better. Emergency contraceptive pills are hormone-based, and they have this known side effect of interfering with the menstrual cycle of certain females. Since you have taken two pills in a short interval, it has led to hormone overdose. Do not worry. I request you not to take emergency contraceptive pills so often as they are meant for an emergency. You can opt for other birth control methods. Please share the details I have requested and any other information that you wish to share. Feel free to ask any questions or to share any additional information.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

My last period was 16 days before that lasted for six days. The flow was heavy in the first two to three days, and after that, it was fine. I do not have a history of irregular periods. Has the excess hormone led to my abnormal discharge?

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Frequent use of high-dose hormones may lead to abnormal discharge and irregular periods. Also, if the discharge is associated with itching, burning sensation, foul smell, or pain in the lower abdomen, it may be due to a vaginal or urine infection.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
