Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a pregnant woman. I am very much worried about HIV. Because my tongue skin is getting peeled off and my armpit lumps are painful. I did not test for HIV yet. If it is positive, then should I have to abort my baby or can I safely deliver a baby? I am in a big depression now.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. First of all, I would like to know why you are suspecting HIV in yourself. If you had a high-risk exposure, you should simply get a test done. If you suspect HIV based on your symptoms, it's important to note that these symptoms are non-specific and do not necessarily indicate HIV; they could be related to iron or vitamin B12 deficiency. Regarding your query, if a person is HIV positive, it is not mandatory for her to get the pregnancy terminated. She can proceed with the pregnancy and receive treatment, which is widely available in both government and private hospitals.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply. I never had sex with anyone except my husband. Now, I think whether I got HIV from outside food or blood on the floor.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. You have not mentioned whether you have been found to be HIV positive or you are just assuming. If yes, is the test done by rapid card method or by ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay)? Please attach the report8.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

No, I did not test yet. I have oral thrush in my tongue and my tongue is getting peel off. As I said, I have armpit lump pain. So, I am assuming, whether I have HIV. I am not able to live a normal life. Everyday, I am checking my tongue. Other than HIV, can any other health issue cause this problem?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Oral thrush is not a definitive sign of HIV. It can happen in normal people also. I suggest you apply Candid mouth paint (Clotrimazole) over your tongue and your thrush would go away. Now, as far as your concern of having HIV is concerned I would say that during pregnancy every gynecologist also tests for HIV routinely. So, you cango to any nearby laboratory and request for HIV test. I hope that the test would be negative. Getting a test done is an excellent idea to give you a peace of mind, and I hope it helps you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
