Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I started using braces from 13 years and wore them for two years. Now, I am 18 years old and I have lost my lower teeth retainer. I am trying to get a new one. I feel like I have a mild overbite and it makes my mouth look weird. I have a developed an asymmetrical face and my jaw has lifted to the left side. It makes me feel insecure. Do I need to wear braces again? Is it too late? I would like to attach a picture of my tooth and jaw.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As per the picture, (attachment removed to protect patient identity) there is some asymmetry but it is not so prominent to be easily noted. If you are thinking to wear braces for facial asymmetry, then I do not recommend you. Your age is not so late for using braces. But without seeing the status of the dentition, I will not recommend braces.

The Probable causes

You have malocclusion.

Investigations to be done

You can do an investigation later.

Differential diagnosis

You may require braces and I recommend you after seeing the picture of the dentition.

Probable diagnosis

You are willing to wear braces.

Treatment plan

Treat the problem accordingly

Preventive measures

Prevent the condition accordingly

Regarding follow up

You do not need braces accordingly to the send picture but if you share the picture of the dentition, I can recommend you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
