Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I would like to ask a question about my teeth. I currently have braces and I have had them since two years. I am scheduled to have them removed in the coming month. However, I am worried as I do not think they are ready yet. My teeth are uneven in length, one side is higher up than the other, one of my front tooth is longer than the other and they are not good at all. I was given class III and class II elastics to help fix my midline. I have decided to wear triangle elastics to pull teeth down, is this an appropriate choice? I do not know what to do as I have already had my last tightening appointment. Should I change the way I wear elastics and do you think my teeth will position evenly before the scheduled date. Also, do stained power chains mean they are less effective at moving teeth? I have attached a photo so that you can see my teeth.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your query and attachment (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). About your concern regarding improper bite on one side, elastics are given to you to settle the bite. It will take time for settlement. About your length alignment and leveling of teeth is carried out in initial phase of treatment. All teeth in arch will not come to same length and in one line. There is specific position of teeth in arch. Pattern of wearing of elastic should be in ideal manner, I would suggest you to confirm it with your orthodontist. E-chains exert their power or force for specific period of time and after that force degrades. On your next appointment that will be changed. For further discussion about your position and occlusion of teeth, clinical examination is necessary or atleast one should have few more images of your concern area such as images of occlusion of teeth on either side, images from front side while smiling, images of upper and lower teeth on wide opening of teeth and taking it from down and up respectively. You are welcome for the further discussion.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
