Is surgery necessary for ovarian cyst?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a right ovarian cyst of 1.5 inches and left adnexal heterogeneous shadow of 2.3 inches. What is to be done? Is there anything to worry about? Does it require an operation on an urgent basis? I am unmarried but not virgin and have a regular conjugal life with a single partner. Do I need to stop being intimate? And my weight is 136 lbs and height is 5’4’’.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is not an emergency as the right ovarian cyst is not more than 2 inches. You do a regular ultrasound to measure the cyst size. If it goes more than 2 inches that we have to operate it. There is no relationship of it with your relationship or virginity.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

What about the heterogeneous shadow found in left adnexa?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If you have no complaints from the left side, do not worry about it.
