Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

After having my braces off, I stopped wearing my retainer regularly, and gradually, my overbite worsened. So I was wondering if it would help the overbite if I bought orthodontic elastics online, put them in the hooks of my retainer, and wore them regularly again? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. As per your description, there is a relapse of overbite. Overbite retention after the treatment is critical, and you must take precautions even after debonding to prevent relapse. I will not suggest you purchase elastics or anything online and do the treatment at home. Because only an orthodontist who is a specialist and expert in orthodontic treatment can understand and treat your problem. So, I suggest you visit your orthodontist. Again I would like to see images of your concern area for a proper and detailed discussion of your problem. I hope you find it helpful. Thanks and regards.
