I had a four-second sinus pause. Could this be from having COVID and flu?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have COVID and flu at the same time right now. A month ago I passed out in a hotel and got told I had a 4 second sinus pause and needed a pacemaker. My NRBC absolute is 0.1 and my thrombin time is 15.1 seconds. Fibrinogen is 203 mg/dL.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the description of your symptoms. A four-second pause is serious enough to warrant a pacemaker, coupled with the passing out. Is it possible to upload that ECG for further analysis? Regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I passed out when I stood up and thought I was fine but then before they left they asked me to stand up and that is when they say the sinus pause. Could this be from having COVID and flu? Also can you check my blood work because it showed abnormal things. D-dimer is 0.75 µg/mL. Fibrinogen is 203 mg/dL. NRBC absolute is 0.1.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the extra information. It looks like you had orthostatic stress, that is, when standing up causes low blood pressure, which resulted in this event. In this case, a pacemaker is not warranted unless this happens on a regular basis. Yes, it could be part of the flu, or viral infections can cause this phenomenon known as dysautonomia. The increased values of D-dimer, fibrinogen, and NRBC (nucleated red blood cells) are part of the infection with COVID.

Hi...is it possible to upload that ECG here?.....non specific st t changes and Intraventricular delay are really not to wrry about unless accompanied by consistent symptoms of dizziness and fatigability...

Patient's Query

They didn’t give me the ecg sheet they only gave me a paper saying exactly what I said. I have been feeling dizzy and with vertigo and a little fatigued especially when I wake up I feel really weak also I pee a lot at night
hi...so since the symptoms are persisting i feel you should a holter ( ambulatory ecg and also cehck your standing blood pressure....also drink at least 1.5 litres of fluid daily....

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
