Q. What could be the reason for palpitations, fatigue, dizziness, and chest pain?
Hello doctor,
I have palpitations, fatigue, dizziness, and chest pain. I take Atenolol 50 mg in the morning. Sometimes I also have diarrhea and constipation. I underwent a blood test, but it did not show anything.
Kindly help.

I understand your concern. Your symptoms could be related to anxiety. However, cardiac arrhythmia can not be excluded either. I suggest you consult your attending physician for a physical exam and get some tests done.
- A resting ECG and a cardiac ultrasound.
- An ambulatory 24 to 48 hours ECG monitoring to investigate for possible cardiac arrhythmia.
- Blood electrolytes.
- Thyroid hormone levels for thyroid gland dysfunction.
- If all the tests are normal, you should consider anxiety the main cause of your complaints.
