Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I recently observed pinworms in my stool. I consulted a physician and got medication prescribed for the same. But after finishing the course of medications, i saw live pinworms in my stool again in less than 24 hours. Please suggest me a treatment to get rid of the worms completely.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As you have mentioned that you have completed one course of medications for pinworms, but you are still observing pinworms in your feces, there is a possibility that you have a re-infection or the medication could not completely eliminate the infection. Taking precautions is essential, along with medications. Some possible reasons for re-infection may be:

  1. Not washing hands frequently enough, especially after using the bathroom or before eating.
  2. Not trimming nails and keeping nails clean.
  3. Not changing underwear and bed linens regularly.
  4. Not cleaning and disinfecting toilet seats, bed linens, and clothing that may have come into contact with the pinworm eggs.
  5. If any family member has similar symptoms, get them treated immediately.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
