How can a patient with patchy hair loss thicken his hair and cover the patch?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have patchy hair loss on the top of my head. Is there any way I can thicken my hair, so it looks like I have more hair?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

With your description, it seems like you are having androgenetic alopecia, which is a progressive condition. I suggest you apply Minoxidil solution as it will help maintain the hair on the scalp. It would also help grow a few new hairs. The concentration of Minoxidil depends on the grade of androgenetic alopecia. I suggest you take hair vitamin pills containing biotin, zinc, and calcium. Consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent. I would suggest you attach your clinical picture along with your query so that it is convenient for me to comment on your condition and suggest proper treatment.
