Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a young teen, and I am conscious of myself. I have found my vulva dark (almost dark brown). I sometimes have smelly vaginal discharge, but I guess it is normal, as it does not cause any discomfort to me.
I have been with symptoms of PCOD like
My periods get delayed for 15 to 20 days sometimes. But I have lost around 15 to 17 lbs of weight, and now my periods are all fine. As I am conscious about my body, I do not like having a darker vulva and vaginal smell. But I cannot go for any of the surgeries to lighten my skin. So kindly suggest tips and methods for lighting my vulva, which I desperately want to.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Every female has a different vulva, and you should not be conscious of your body. The vulva is normally more pigmented, and it is normal. See if discharge is not associated with itching and burning, then it is normal. Just practice good hygiene, change your underpants daily, and keep your intimate parts clean.
Why are you conscious that is a normal thing? Labia minora is normally dark, and that is how it is. Stop being conscious and just love yourself and be confident. Having a dark vulva is normal, but yes, you should take PCOS seriously. Exercise daily and avoid junk food, as weight loss is the most effective treatment.
