Hi doctor,
I noticed raised, flaky patches on my penis that started spreading. It has been like this for the last four weeks. The first patch started on the front of my shaft then it kept increasing. What could this be?

Those are Fordyce spots, and it develops in the glans penis. They are small painless spots. There is nothing to worry about. It will remain for some time and will go away on its own. I visited a doctor who told me that raised plaque was a fungal infection. I underwent treatment for it, but it has not helped. Are we looking at the same pictures? Because it is cracking and peeling.

No, it is not a fungal infection. Those are Fordyce spots (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), but fungal infections can also occur simultaneously. Fungal infection causes pain, skin sloughing, inflammation, and itching, which you do not have. If you have skin cracks, I suggest you to apply vitamin E cream (moisturizer), which will promote healing. Also, for lesions in the genitalia, I suggest you to apply vitamin E cream. Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent.

I did not see this pimple (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). Instead, I was looking at the lesion on the glans penis. This seems to be a fungal infection that causes itching and irritation. This needs to be treated with an antifungal cream. In addition, I suggest you to wash your scalp with antifungal shampoo as well.

It does not look like cancer. Cancer is rare; it presents late in life and looks like a fungating mass. First, you must do blood tests for syphilis, herpes simplex virus (HSV), and ureaplasma. After that, we can know if it is a sexually transmitted infection or not. If it is negative, proceed with biopsy and histology.
