Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have back pain due to a kidney stone. I went to the hospital for a CT scan. My scan report suggests that I have a stone in my kidney that is 0.59 inch long. They have suggested me to undergo PCNL (percutaneous nephrolithotomy) surgery. Should I undergo surgery or take medications?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The treatment options for a 0.59 inch long stone are: shockwave lithotripsy, retrograde intra renal surgery, and PCNL (percutaneous nephrolithotomy).

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

They have suggested PCNL surgery next week. Can I undergo that? There are two stones in the left kidney that are 0.59 inch and 0.157 inch long.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I suggest you go ahead as you have two stones, so for single-stage clearance, percutaneous nephrolithotomy will be the best.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

I have undergone PCNL surgery, but I have a problem with my foreskin. I cannot pull it back. Will this affect my sexual activities?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I hope all stones were cleared. The foreskin will not affect the baby as sperms can emerge, but it requires treatment before it worsens. I suggest you apply Betnovate (Betamethasone Valerate) cream 1 % twice daily and gradually pull the skin back after two weeks.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

Can I do sex with this problem? Will I have any bleeding?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Usually, there is no bleeding, but it might get worse if left untreated and may bleed or cause pain and infection.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
