Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Kindly interpret the results for the perineal mass to decide if I need to seek urgent attention or can wait for a routine follow-up.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I read your query and understand your concern. Let me first express sympathy for your pains and distress. From the USG (ultrasonogram) and CT (computed tomography) report that you have attached (attachment removed to protect patient’s identity), it is apparent that you have got an abscess adjacent to the anal region, and its definitive treatment is incision and drainage, like cutting it open, draining the pus and then treating the cavity with antibiotics, antiseptic. And of course, it is already causing you problems, enlarging and becoming more painful. If you keep it like this, it may also burst, and we cannot predict whether it will erupt outside, or inwards into your pelvic muscles, anus. So, I believe, you can consult an ER or surgeon right away, so that they have the matter right in front of them, and can make a plan for the earliest surgical drainage as soon as the necessary reports are available. They may also want first to aspirate its contents with a syringe to send the fluid or pus for testing. Therefore, it is best not to wait. I hope I cleared all your doubts.
Thank you.
