Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a cosmetic question for a urologist. I have had a dark blue vein appear on the bottom of my penis, and I was wondering if there is any way of making it less visible or removing it. It had just appeared in the last month. I am 23 years old and not on medication. I have phimosis that is getting worse.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. Unfortunately, we can do nothing to remove or make the vein less visible. It is completely normal and nothing for you to worry about. All men have veins running through their penis, and some become visible later in life. I hope this puts your mind at ease. Regarding your phimosis, it is best to get a circumcision as soon as possible. The longer you leave it, the more smegma will accumulate underneath, which is unhealthy. Are you unable to pull back the skin, or does it go back and feel a bit tight? Please share an image with the skin pulled back as far as possible.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have had preprucioplasty and steroid creams, but they have not worked. It is like I have a band wrapped around my penis. I will attach a photo.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The skin seems to be pulling back alright, so it is no longer to be labeled as phimosis. At times, the band remains and causes difficulties during an erection, like pain during sexual activity. If it causes pain during sex or the skin is stuck and does not return to the normal position, circumcision must be done. However, you are good to go if you do not have those issues.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Is there anything I can do to loosen the band? It does seem to be getting tighter.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. You can use steroid creams, but it is doubtful how much they will help. Prolonged use can also thin out your skin severely. As I can see, you have already tried them, so any further use has risks of skin thinning out. Try them out twice a day for a maximum of one week. If it does not get better and is starting to bother you or cause pain, I would advise you to go for circumcision.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Would stretching be of any use? Yesterday I ordered a Phimostop with tubes that gradually stretch the foreskin. That is the last thing I will try before potentially a circumcision. I am reluctant to get circumcised because of what I have read on the internet about sensitivity loss after a circumcision.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. I do not have any experience with the device you mentioned, which I certainly have not mentioned in any medical literature. Therefore I could not possibly comment on its efficacy or safety, too, for that matter. I would like to say that circumcision is a relatively simple and straightforward procedure. I agree there can be complications with every procedure, but they are rare. As far as the sensitivity is concerned, it settles down in a couple of weeks.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
