Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My daughter is ten years old and has very dark skin and pigmentation. I am dusky, and my husband is dark, so it could be genetic. But I am looking for a solution to help her achieve slightly fairer and healthier skin. She gets demotivated or disappointed when we ask her to wash her face, as she would have already washed it.
I want to give her a little more confidence. Please suggest something to get fair and glowing skin. She has asthma, so doctors say it is also a reason for pigmentation on her leg. I am seeking advice on serums, creams, tablets, or syrups that can help brighten her skin without any side effects.
Please help.
Thanks.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Since your daughter is too young to start a proper adult skincare routine, I will be providing mild cleansers and creams. Usually, asthma although may be a reason for pigmentation, having pigmentation and less glowing skin is normal for small children due to the changes in skin type based on outside temperature and skin getting adjusted to the same. Once your daughter becomes an adult, her skin will become better and then a proper skincare routine can be started. I do understand your concern as you would like to help your daughter to gain confidence. For this purpose, I will provide some medications below.
Advice:
1. Melaglow-rich cream (niacinamide and kojic acid): Use a thin layer on the pigmented patches or spots in a thin layer. Use once every three nights for six months.
2. Ethiglo soap (kojic acid and glycolic acid): Use this soap for cleansing extremely pigmented areas on the body once every three days.
3. Venusia Max cream (shea butter and glycerine): Use this cream as a moisturizer for the body in the morning and at night.
4. Facemoist cream (sodium hyaluronate): Use this moisturizer once daily, preferably at night for the face.
5. Cuvia XL sunscreen (vitamin E acetate and licorice): Use this sunscreen for the body and face every day every four hours to prevent increased pigmentation from sun exposure.
6. Zincovit syrup: Consume one teaspoon after dinner for one month.
7. Seacod cod liver oil capsule for kids: Consume on alternate nights after dinner for one month.
8. Cocunut oil: Mix coconut oil with vitamin E capsule oil and apply it on the face and body once every three days, keep it for 30 minutes, and wash it off with soap during bathing.
9. Vitamin C: Consuming vitamin C-rich food like oranges, apples, carrots, amla, tomatoes, and capsicum is good.
Consuming enough water daily is also good for reducing pigmentation. With consistency with the above, slowly skin will appear better which will help with confidence as well.
I hope this information will help you.
Thank you.
