Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have noticed my father has developed some pigmentation in the feet and toes of both legs. Since he does not live with me I cannot tell the duration but last year it was not there. He also complains of pain in the right foot when he goes for a long walk. He then rests and then continues to walk. His right side has been weak since the time he had a stroke. He is taking Mixtard insulin 30/70 - 50 units morning, 13 units night Glycomet GP2 1-0-1, and Linagliptin 5 mg.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
It looks like pigmented purpuric dermatoses; due to the weakening of small blood vessels of the feet. You can apply depigmenting creams and moisturizers for dry skin and can take vitamin C tablets. Practice leg elevation or keep pillows under your feet. You can also use a crepe bandage.
I hope this helps. Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Is it normal to have this at this age and is it harmful? Can you prescribe some cream?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
It is not very harmful. You can apply vitamin C and hyaluronic acid serum in the morning and glycolic acid 6 % cream at night. Moisturizing cream after bath and afternoon for dry skin. Review after 15 days.
I hope this helps. Thank you.
