Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am worried that I have a post-extraction granuloma after getting my wisdom teeth extracted eight days ago. It does not hurt, but it does bleed when I try to clean the socket closer to it with the syringe. I am concerned that it may become infected before I can get a hold of my oral surgeon on monday. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

If there is a granuloma, it should be removed by an oral surgeon immediately after the extraction of the wisdom tooth. However, since it has been eight days post-extraction and the extraction site is painless, then there seems to be no granuloma or infection. The extraction site is in the healing phase, which may cause some bleeding. I suggest you apply gentle pressure while cleaning the extraction area. If you are concerned about infection, you can use antiseptic mouthwash solution to clean the area. It is advisable to consult your oral surgeon as soon as possible to confirm the absence of infection.

I hope this helps.

Regards.
