Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have severe pain at the end of my upper left jaw, exactly where my wisdom tooth was removed two years ago. I have an X-ray of the area and I am sharing it with you. Toothache starts in the morning everyday. I have been experiencing this for about five days. I do not have blood pressure, diabetes, or any other major issue.
Today, I started Danzen DS (20 minutes before food) and Synflex (right after food) in the morning. I gargle with saline water and Benzarin mouthwash five times a day. Upon my dentist's advice over the phone four days ago, I started taking Brufen 600 mg, three times a day and Augmentin 625 mg twice a day. I took this medication for three days but felt no improvement. Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
I have gone through your attachment (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). The medication you are taking is right and oral hygiene measures are also to the point. I want to know a few more details about your site of concern. Do you have any injury or any kind of trauma over there? Did any hot foodstuff or any sharp pieces of food hit there? How does that site look like? I am unable to comment more since you have not uploaded an image of that area or site so soft tissue evaluation is difficult. If any minor injury or trauma is there or if you experience pain at that local site then you can apply ghee or local anesthetic oral gel over the particular area.
Gargling with lukewarm water with a pinch of salt in it will help more. Does any tooth from the lower arch hit that site? That may be one of the reasons for local site pain. Kindly answer my questions so that I can assist you further.
I wish you good health.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
My younger brother is a doctor and he saw the site. He said that there was an inflammation on that site. I had no injury and no sharp food hit there as far as I know. The pain started one day in the morning. The previous night I had not brushed my teeth and ate rusks which I think might have caused the pain. I do not think any tooth from the lower arch hits that site. There is enough gap when the jaw is closed. I am a smoker also. I have also attached the exact view of the local site. Please advise.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I have seen the attachment (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). Knowingly or unknowingly something must have injured that part. I advise you to quit smoking as it is injurious to health, lowers immunity, and affects the healing of the mucosa. Take vitamin B complex tablets. I suggest you use Zytee gel (Benzalkonium chloride, Choline salicylate, and Lingnocaine hydrochloride) for local application. You can take a painkiller when needed. Continue gargling with lukewarm water with salt added to it. Also, turmeric milk will be helpful in healing considering the current viral outbreak.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
