Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 17-year-old female, and ever since I was a child, I have had eczema all over my body, and I took medications for it. However, now I have a lot of black spots all around my body, and I do not know what to do. It is just like my normal skin, but it is like black patches.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I have reviewed your file (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity).

It is called PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation). Any skin condition, after it heals, leaves dark spots. It subsides over the years, or the process can be made faster with few medications. But it can be improved by 25 to 30 % only. You can apply Kojic acid creams on the dark spots at night. Use a good moisturizer with Ceramide in the morning to help heal faster. Always put sunscreen if you are wearing short dresses. Do not scratch the lesions. It would leave dark marks again.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
