Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your response.

It is for a premarital checkup. I have not had intercourse for the last eight years. It is just a casual check-up, which I have done now. I did some research on the tests and would like to know if the tests mentioned below are also required to be done, or if the above tests are enough.

  1. Thalassemia test.
  2. Sickle cell trait.
  3. STD (sexually transmitted disease) panel. Especially, the STD panel tests are completely different from HIV-1 and HIV-2.

Please guide me in understanding these.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

All the tests are within the normal limit. There is no need for further testing. Regarding thalassemia and sickle cell anemia, there are no such guidelines for these tests in otherwise healthy individuals who do not have a family history of the disease. Human immunodeficiency (HIV 1 and HIV-2) are included in the STD panel test.

I hope it helps.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you.
