Had Duralast for premature ejaculation and felt drowsy. Is there any alternate medicine?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a patient of premature ejaculation, and today I have taken my first dose of Duralast 30 mg. There was no significant improvement in the ejaculation time, and after a couple of hours I felt drowsy and kind of drunk. Should I continue with the medicine? If yes, for how long and what dose?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

At your age, it is unusual to have premature ejaculation. PME is called when intravaginal ejaculation time is less than 1 minute, and there is a lack of satisfaction from coitus.

Yes, Dapoxetine is an effective drug for premature ejaculation. 30 mg is the dose to begin with, which can get increased gradually. Besides Dapoxetine, Paroxetine can also be used.

Once started it needs to be continued for a period of about four to six months, then after gradually stopped over a period. If taken for a more extended period, its efficacy decreases, cardiac and GI symptoms can also occur. Before starting it on your own, do consult a psychiatrist. Thank you.
