Why does premature ejaculation occur?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Nowadays, I have difficulty staying erect for long periods. I find that I am ejaculating very quickly, sometimes in less than a minute. Could you please explain why this is happening? I am really concerned.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Could you please specify how many days this issue has been occurring? Possible causes could include stress, performance anxiety, a family history, insufficient involvement of the partner’s pelvic muscles, or overall weakness. Try techniques such as start-stop, pause-squeeze, and pelvic floor exercises to overcome premature ejaculation. Avoid smoking, alcohol, and caffeinated beverages. If you are taking medication, consult your doctor about the possibility of stopping or adjusting your dosage.

Additionally, avoid dairy products, processed, and fried foods. Instead, increase your intake of Brazil nuts, especially those high in selenium, which may help improve your mood. Incorporate more omega-3-rich fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, sardines, trout, and herring, as well as eggs, pumpkin seeds, dark chocolate, turmeric, chamomile, and yogurt into your diet. Start with these changes and consult a healthcare professional if necessary.
