How to correct protruded central incisor in a 10-year-old?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My daughter is 10 years old. She has one central incisor protruded and the other is inside and one lateral that has not come out fully and another lateral is normal. How can I get this corrected?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Till one year, do not do anything, that means until she crosses 11 years of age. Most of the times, this ugly duckling stage (we call it in medical terms) is corrected by the fully erupted canines. At this stage, if you do anything or start any treatment, it may hamper the development of her jaw. So, wait for a year and a half and decide after that too. You can also upload her bite photos, both in open mouth and closed so that I may provide you a better opinion.
