Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Should Augmentin 875 mg be used to treat pseudomonas aeruginosa that is caused by UTI? Also, urine is still a slight green color. The urine test was actually taken 25 days ago. Urine is still a slight green color after completing the Augmentin course for three days. No other symptoms are there. I am taking Singulair. I was first given Macrobid and then switched to Augmentin after the culture test. I am attaching my reports. Kindly help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Pseudomonas are usually present with a mainly foreign body like a stone or a tube, or catheter or a stent. Therefore ultrasound KUB (kidney, urethra, and bladder) is advised for diagnosis. Second, for your report (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), it seems Ciprofloxacin has the best sensitivity, which is tablet Ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice daily for five days. At the same time, the sensitivity of Augmentine is not mentioned. Please take the medication and follow up with an ultrasound scan.

If you have any more queries, please let me know.

Kind regards

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you.

I recently had a septoplasty on the nineteenth of last month. While there was no mention of a catheter, could that be a possible factor, or would that be unrelated? Kindly give your opinion.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, catheter placement also can cause it. But I am not sure if you got stones? Also, therefore, we require an ultrasound to check on your kidneys and bladder. I hope nothing except the previous catheterization. Usually, a foreign body should be removed, and antibiotics should be given to returning urine to a sterile state. If antibiotics are only given alone, the infection can reoccur back.

Please keep following, and if you got something else to discuss, I am here.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
